Mention electric transportation, and most people think of personal electric vehicles. But when it comes to electric transportation, EPRI is taking conventional thinking off the road. Our Non-Road Electric Transportation program has branched out to include a wide range of technologies as we discover an equally wide range of challenges and opportunities.
This introductory video to EPRI's Non-Road Transportation Program brings you to the Port of Savannah, Georgia, where EPRI is working with local utilities to better understand the costs and benefits of non-road electric transportation for freight. As these efforts continue, our lessons learned can help transfer non-road electric transportation technology to other locations and industries across the globe.
Hi I’m Lee Robinson, I’m with Electric Transportation team at Southern Company and we have been looking at utility vehicles such as this Stealth for quite a while. A lot of our larger customers with the power company are asking for this type vehicle particularly the military. We wanted to find a unit that would not only meet their specifications and ours but that would exceed and we feel like this particular vehicle may offer that solution. We’re going to test this vehicle, put it at Eglin Air Force Base, so we’re excited about what this vehicle can do, what it will bring to the market and what it will bring to our customers.
